If you have never seen your 3 year old child with a different hair color, it is amazing.
I've always wanted dark haired children... but with the genes coming from me and Doug, I doubt it will happen anytime soon. As part of Zane's superman costume for Halloween, we died his hair black. Wow - I was amazed at how different it made him look. Going from light blond to that dark was sure different. His eyes were a different color. His head was a different shape. His ears didn't look as big! It really took us a few days to get used to seeing him with dark hair. Zane was playing in the backyard with his little blonde friend and when Doug came home he said "Who's the Asian kid playing in the backyard with Zane?" Really - the "Asian Kid" was Zane and the other blonde boy was his friend. When Zane came down the stairs the next morning I was confused and wondering what the dark haired boy was doing in our house at 7 am. But he looked awesome for Halloween!
Just as I am getting used to his hair color - I am starting to miss the little blonde boy again! Even thought the hair dye was permanent - there are a few spots that are coming out quicker than the rest. So today we shaved it down short. There is still a touch of dark on the very tips and it looks like he has salt and pepper gray hair. In a week we'll try it again. I'm sure it will be back to normal soon.
Thanksgiving is in less than two weeks and we are so excited to have Doug's parents here. We are planning the feast of a century! (Or at least the month). I have a few new recipes from friends of mine and I am feeling adventurous! It should be interesting at least!
Who says we have to wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas? The stores don't! Amanda and the kids put the Christmas tree up today. It is nice to sit in the living room with no TV and just enjoy the ambiance!
Doug and I packed up our Christmas decorations seperate from Amanda's last year and they are hidden somewhere in our storage shed. Just don't tell Kyah there are more decorations because she will be begging to put them up too.
Kyah has been working on a letter to Santa. She said she didn't know what she wanted and then said "Mom, how do you spell 'Bag of Makeup?'" Its amazing how fast they grow up. Last year it was a baby doll... this year it is makeup and jewelry. Next year it will be a car.

Baby doll? I thought Kyah asked for a life-sized friend... Little miss Four-Feet Tall.
Maybe the makeup is for her...
