Beautiful Kids

Christmas break is over and we are back into the swing of things at school. The hardest part of the transition is for me to wake up! But Kyah and Zane were excited to be back in school and see their friends and teachers again.

There is a cute little Mexican boy in Kyah's class named Emiliano. We call him Emi for short. He is a tiny little guy with a big head and floppy dark hair. He is too adorable. He is very quiet and doesn't talk to many of the kids in class. He is having a little harder time learning to read than the other kids because I think his parents don't speak English. I finally got him to talk with me when I was working with him before Christmas. He told me Santa was bringing him a Spiderman Action Figure and a Doc Octopus. He was really excited. I was shocked and didn't know he could talk so much!

Well, Kyah has a funny habit of saying hello to anyone that she sees speaking Spanish or anyone that looks like they should speak Spanish. She does this at the mall, in grocery stores, or anywhere we happen to walk by someone that may look Latino to her. But she doesn't just say hello, she yells out "Hola!" We are going to have to have a talk about how not everyone may speak Spanish even though they might look that way. But for now, its kind of funny.

During the first week of school Kyah befriended Emi in her normal fashion. (She is friends with everyone). She walked up to him and said "Hola!" He looked at her surprised and said "You speak Spanish?" Then she said "No, I just learned a little from Dora." :) Classic! They've been friends ever since.

Kyah came home yesterday from school and was in a good mood. She said "Mom - do you know what Emiliano said to me at school today? He told me I was beautiful." As she was telling me her face started to go a little pink. It was too cute. How could I blame him? She is beautiful!
