Pulling Teeth

My daughter is 6... which means tis the season for losing baby teeth. I never thought I had a queasy stomach, but I have to say that I am totally grossed out by the whole process of wiggling, pulling and saving teeth. That must come from my own personal "fun" experiences with the dentist.

Kyah had me pull one out this afternoon that wasn't quite ready to let go. It was bugging her and was wiggling to and fro like a windsock. I shudder even thinking about its haphazard dangle on top of her mouth. So far I've let Doug do all the honors with her teeth, but he wasn't around and she wanted it done. So I had to buck up.

A nice firm yank with a damp washcloth (with my eyes closed) and it came out with a "POP!" Kyah has been telling everyone how I closed my eyes because I didn't like doing it. Yup, I'm a wimp, but I am awarding myself the mom of the day award!

YUCK!

So you can touch raw meat but you can't pull out a tooth? I can pull a tooth out but can't touch raw meat. Which reminds me, I bought some hamburger meat on Saturday and I need you to come down to Utah to split the meat for me into smaller freezer bags :)

I was thinking the fears of pulling teeth came from Dad's threat of using pliers :) But you can blame the dentist too! I think my kids have all pulled their own, it grosses me out too!

My fear is that if I closed my eyes to pull a tooth is that I would pull the wrong one!

I can see it now -- "Just a second Luke, this is harder than I thought..."

"Oops -- that was a molar..."
