Can you imagine not being able to read? In the history of this world, the average person has only been given the right to learn to read for a very short time. I am so grateful for the time period I live in today when I am not only allowed to read, but I have so many different things to read. (Probably too much).
So here is my thankful list today.
- Book of Mormon. Yes, I'm a fan! If I didn't put this first on my list, it would be rather shameful. Its a great source of peace and answers that we need! I'm sad to say I should read it more often than I do. After the experience watching the news yesterday I decided I really need to make this a better habit and love in my life which will help me and my kids. I'm still working on my goal to finish it this year. I better get with it.
- Funny fictional books with a touch of romance! I don't know why these are so enjoyable for me. I end up speed reading through most of it, skipping paragraphs and pages at a time. Sometimes I feel dumber after reading them, which is probably not a good sign. But I love the escape that keeps me from doing chores around the house... like laundry!
- How-to books. This has been especially helpful to me in the last few months. When I started coaching I was feeling nervous that I would be inadequate, so I checked out a number of books on volleyball from the library. The entire time I was reading I kept thinking "Yeah, I know all this stuff!" I didn't learn a whole lot from them, but they at least gave me confidence. Now I am scouring at least 6 different books on basketball. I am feeling even more inadequate for this sport. I've been spending even more time looking at drills and offensive and defensive tactics. Only 3 more days until my life gets extra crazy! Tryouts begin Monday.
And one more freebie for the day. I agree with Allie on the subject of James Bond. Check him out! And no drooling!
